FROM A NET IMPORTER TO NET EXPORTER : THE UNTOLD STORY

After Independence , India was ram shackled by the heavy administration drain of the Britishers . India had been exploited to the fullest and due to the heavy duty fees levied by the Britishers on India , it lost its industrialization capabilities. All it's good quality raw materials were carried away by the British and India stood helpless. Even after 65 years of Independence , India was too far in manufacturing , Research and development but the last 15 to 20 years proved to be a  charismatic period in the history of India. Before these years , India was the largest importer of medical equipments including masks , PPE KITS , Face shields and various drugs from China but as the saying goes "BELIEVE IN YOUR CAPABILITIES AND YOU WILL CONQUER THE PARAMOUNT" ,India transformed itself within 6 months and became an exporter of large amount of goods which are used in the various climes of the world.

   First of all , Let's discuss about India's prowess in medical equipments and supplements . During the outbreak of the COVID-19 Pandemic ,India evolved itself as a juggernaut in supplying the best quality drugs , medical equipments and  PPE kits around the world . When the whole world was fed up of low quality Chinese imports of medical supplements , India came up with a hand of help for many countries and thus surpassed China in exporting these goods . In a single day , itself India became the largest exporter of PPE kits in the world with all of those supplements being manufactured in India. During the month of March , India use to import ventilators and its various parts from China but amid the face off and the rising tensions between the two nations at the border , the Indian government called for Made in India ventilators. In just a matter of two months , BEL(Bharat Electronics Limited) and DRDO (Defense Research Development Organization) manufactured a whopping amount of 75,000 ventilators and all imports of Chinese ventilators were banned . Even , the raw materials and the spare parts of these ventilators were being manufactured under the leadership of many private companies such as Mahindra and Maruti as a result of which our nation became the net exporter of ventilators all across the world including Russia , USA and France. India made a huge profit and the dedicated efforts of our scientists paid off.

                    USA ,due to sudden hike in cases , ran short of essential drugs as a result of which , our nation exported about 50 million pills of Hydroxychloroquine(HCQ) and thus proved its mettle even in the toughest of times.

  Once an importer of huge military equipments , India , now stands tall as everest in manufacturing and exporting it. BEL(Bharat Electronics Limited) , DRDO( Defense Research Development Organization) ,BDL (Bharat Dynamics Limited) and HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) were the companies under which the defense sector of the nation flourished and could export a huge amount of missiles , rifles , ammunitions and Carbines to countries like Singapore , Malasiya , Bangladesh , Sri Lanka and  Taiwan. DRDO and BDL took an active part in the Ballistic missile development programme as a result of which India now has an arsenal full with the deadliest missiles and nukes in the world . The AGNI-I, II, III , IV , V and VI are known as the best inter - continental ballistic missiles and India has recently made a deal with Taiwan for its export. Guns , Rifles and Snipers are some equipments in which India has succeeded to manufacture it. Privatization in India's defense sector has added to the successful results . Companies like SSS Defense ,  PLR systems and L&T are some of the big private players in the form of private small arms manufacturing companies. Over the years , these companies have yielded some of the best variants and qualities of snipers and carbines as a result of which the Defence Ministry of India has dropped out a deal with "CARCAL" which is a small arm manufacturing company based in UAE. This has been done in order to promote the "Make in India" movement. Gradually , these companies have grown and are now exporting variety of arms , ammunitions and missiles . India's exports to Bangladesh , Nepal , Myanmar , Sri Lanka and Afghanistan has accounted for a huge revenue which is expected to increase over the years .

   Mobile and component manufacturing was the sector where India failed every single time it tried so . However, the diligent and dedicated research of scientists of ISRO and other IT hubs in India brought about a huge smile when India as a result of its Research and Development capabilities in mobile and component manufacturing started gathering and summoning a large number of international juggernauts to set up their plants in our nation. As time passed , history was scripted and India became one of the countries to manufacture the number of android phone units in a single day. Integrated Circuits , PCBs , Charging cables and Turbo chargers are now being manufactured here in our country with highly mechanized , skilled and purely indigenous technology.Companies like Samsung , Apple , Xiaomi , Vivo and Oppo have set up their manufacturing plants and the skilled countrymen have actively participated in doing so. According to sources , since 2015 , India has become the fastest growing mobile manufacturer and exporter . It's export percentage has risen above 195 % surpassing that of China whose export percentage has dropped by 25 %. India's rise as a tech giant is just mind boggling and the stats itself suggest how , India's graph has grown up. Set Up Boxes are too being manufactured in India at bulk due to which it is able to export a huge amount of them to various other countries. There is a tough competition between India and China and our nation has edged out China , for sure.

   Car Manufacturing and exporting in India has generated a huge amount of revenue with all their components such as gear boxes , pistons  , engines and tires being manufactured purely in India.Over the years , our nation has became the 4th largest exporter of cars in the world accounting for a huge revenue. In terms of exporting air craft parts , India has rode a path of immense progress and is now the 15th largest exporter of aircraft spare parts .

HOWEVER , IN THE RECENT YEARS THE GROWING THE EXPENDITURE ON R&D BY OUR GOVERNMENT HAS LED TO INCREASE IN INDIA'S EXPORT. IN EVERY SINGLE FIELD , THIS NATION IS RACING AHEAD AND PAST THE OTHER GIANTS AND THE GRAPH OF DEVELOPMENT IT POSSESSES, DEFINES THAT , OUR NATION ISN'T FAR BEHIND FROM BECOMING A GLOBAL FACTORY OR A MANUFACTURING SUPERPOWER.
